Job Summary

As a Custodian with Roanoke County, VA, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our Recreation Center and grounds. This role involves performing repetitive manual work, including sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, and waxing floors, as well as dusting furniture and woodwork. You will also be responsible for cleaning and polishing woodwork and furniture, cleaning restrooms, and removing trash from all containers. Additionally, you will assist with the maintenance of exterior grounds and set up and break down rooms as needed for rentals, programs, and special events.

Responsibilities
  • Safe and proper use of materials and equipment
  • Sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, and waxing floors
  • Dusting furniture and woodwork
  • Cleaning and polishing woodwork and furniture
  • Cleaning restrooms and replenishing paper products
  • Cleaning interior and exterior glass partitions and glass doors
  • Removing trash from all containers
  • Requesting cleaning supplies and equipment as required
  • Performing routine cleaning tasks
  • Assisting with exterior grounds maintenance
  • Setting up and breaking down rooms for rentals, programs, and special events
Requirements
  • Preferred: Graduation from High School or equivalent
  • Required: Prior experience in cleaning buildings
  • Preferred: Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification
Additional Requirements
  • Subject to a complete criminal history and Child Protective Services background search with acceptable results
  • Good physical condition
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and some holidays
