Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Biomedical Equipment Technician II to join our team at Christiana Care, a leading healthcare provider in the Mid-Atlantic region. As a Biomedical Equipment Technician II, you will play a critical role in ensuring the proper functioning of medical equipment and instrumentation used in healthcare delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Repair, calibrate, and maintain medical equipment and instrumentation, including patient monitors, electrocardiographs, defibrillators, and anesthesia apparatus.
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections according to manufacturers' or departmental procedures.
  • Analyze electronic equipment for causes of failure and isolate, test, and replace defective parts.
  • Use departmental computer and paper systems to maintain equipment records and document failures, repairs, and inspections.
  • Identify potential hazards with medical devices during service activity and work to resolve them.
  • Assist in the investigation of incidents involving medical equipment.
  • Evaluate vendor repairs and projects, and deal with manufacturers on repair work and parts needed for equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Instruct medical/nursing staff on the use and operation of biomedical equipment.
Requirements
  • Associates degree in electronic technology, technical school, or military specialized training.
  • Five years of recent experience in electronics repair and maintenance, with at least three years as a Biomedical Equipment Technician.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Working Conditions

Exposed to a variety of electromechanical hazards, possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens, and well-lit, clean repair shop environment.
