Job Summary

Sentara Healthcare is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team at Sentara Endocrinology Kempsville in Charlottesville, VA. As a Medical Assistant, you will work directly with a doctor, conducting phlebotomy, clinical, and clerical duties. This is a full-time, permanent position with a sign-on bonus up to offered to qualified candidates.

Responsibilities
  • Perform patient care-related tasks and procedures based on training, education, and competency evaluation
  • Administer medications and injections as directed by the physician
  • Take vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure
  • Prepare patients for exams and procedures
  • Assist with laboratory tests and procedures
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
Requirements
  • Certification in one of the following programs: CCMA, CMA, RMA, or EMT-B
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire
  • Minimum of one year experience in a healthcare setting or one year experience as an EMT, Paramedic, and/or Corpsman
Preferred Qualifications
  • Phlebotomy experience
  • Experience with electronic medical records
