DeafBlind Employment Specialist

Helen Keller Services is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated DeafBlind Employment Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in empowering individuals who are DeafBlind or have a combined hearing and vision loss.
Job Summary:The DeafBlind Employment Specialist will provide one-on-one services to consumers to assist with achievement of employment outcomes. This includes providing training and technical assistance to families and service providers, as well as collaborating with community partners to identify service gaps and unmet needs.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide direct services to consumers in the state of Indiana, including vocational rehabilitation, job development, job placement, and coaching.
- Collaborate with local service providers to develop a team to execute Individualized Plans for Employment (IPE).
- Identify DeafBlind youth and adults for inclusion in the HKNC National Registry.
- Provide additional direct services as needed, including assistive technology, instrumental activities of daily living, and casework.
- Assist with outreach opportunities to educate Vocational Rehabilitation personnel about the capabilities of DeafBlind individuals and share HKNC services/programs.
- Assist with identifying professional learning opportunities and coordinating trainings needed in the region.
- Bachelor's degree required; MA degree preferred in vocational rehabilitation, Deaf Education, Special Education, multiple disabilities, or related degree.
- Knowledge of Braille and sign language. Fluency in American Sign Language is preferred or candidate must become proficient within two years of employment.
