Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Extender/Scribe to join our team at SportsCare Physical Therapy. This is a full-time opportunity that involves working 3-4 days a week in Morris County, NJ.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Experience working in a medical or clinical setting is preferred, but not required.

About the Role

This position involves assisting healthcare providers with managing and prioritizing patient workflow, ensuring all patient charts are complete and finalized by the end of the day, and coordinating with other staff members to ensure smooth operation of the clinic or hospital department.

You will also be responsible for accurately and efficiently documenting patient history, symptoms, physical exams, diagnoses, and treatment plans as dictated by the healthcare provider, updating and maintaining the Electronic Health Record (EHR) with relevant patient information, test results, and follow-up instructions, and transcribing patient orders including laboratory tests, medications, and referrals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Documentation:
    • Accurately and efficiently document patient history, symptoms, physical exams, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
    • Update and maintain the Electronic Health Record (EHR) with relevant patient information, test results, and follow-up instructions.
    • Transcribe patient orders including laboratory tests, medications, and referrals.
  • Workflow Management:
    • Assist healthcare providers with managing and prioritizing patient workflow.
    • Ensure all patient charts are complete and finalized by the end of the day.
    • Coordinate with other staff members to ensure smooth operation of the clinic or hospital department.
  • Communication:
    • Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to ensure accurate and timely documentation.
    • Relay relevant information to healthcare providers as needed during patient encounters.
  • Compliance and Confidentiality:
    • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.
    • Follow all hospital or clinic policies and procedures regarding documentation and record-keeping.
Requirements
  • Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field or completion of a medical scribe certification program.
  • Experience:
    • Experience working in a medical or clinical setting is preferred.
    • Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and the healthcare system is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
    • Strong typing and computer skills, with experience using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
    • Excellent attention to detail and ability to accurately transcribe information.
    • Good organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work well under pressure and in stressful situations.
