Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred
License: RN License in state of employment or compact
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required
Must-Have: Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
Job Description:
- Practice independently in a clinical setting, demonstrating awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Provide routine and complex care with a focus on long-term goals.
- Develop ability to manage contingencies in clinical nursing and make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks to other care providers.
- Meet expectations of applicable leadership competencies. Utilize the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for patients.
- Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
- Administer medications and treatments according to protocol, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
- Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided.
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers.
- Utilize critical thinking skills to assess physical, psychosocial, social, cultural, spiritual, and development needs of patients.
- Communicate findings to healthcare team members and develop specific care plans.
- Anticipate and plan for admission, discharge, and transfer needs to facilitate patient flow.
- Plan, direct, and evaluate nursing care in a particular unit during assigned shifts.
- Promote a safe environment and demonstrate accountability for nursing research and quality improvement.
- Educate and train others on operations, ethics, and regulations within the industry.
- Share experiences with maintaining patient documentation and provide feedback for procedure improvements.
- Educate patients on the use of home medical equipment and ensure all equipment is in proper working order.
- Process medical orders, interpreting patient charts and ensuring safety guidelines are followed.
