Job Summary

Northern Light Health is seeking a Registered Nurse I to join their Medical Surgical Unit at Northern Light Blue Hill Hospital. This is a PRN position with variable hours per week.

About the Role

The Registered Nurse I provides patient care to assigned patients and supervises other qualified staff in the exercise of independent judgment. The nurse plans and evaluates nursing care for patients and families, addressing physical, spiritual, emotional, and educational needs.

Responsibilities
  1. Patient Safety: Provides safe and effective patient care by using best practices during hand-off communication and reporting patient care information.
  2. Clinical Assessments: Performs and documents systematic assessments according to established criteria, recognizing and responding to abnormal diagnostic data.
  3. Caring & Code of Conduct: Develops and maintains professional relationships with patients, families, and staff, treating patients with courtesy and respect.
  4. Critical Thinking: Utilizes theoretical knowledge base to operationalize care.
  5. Documentation: Maintains accurate and complete documentation reflecting adherence to hospital, regulatory, and legal requirements.
  6. Population Specific Competency: Completes mandatory education competencies as defined by the unit's scope of service, providing culturally competent care to patients and families.
  7. Evidenced-Based Practice & Research: Practices consistently with Northern Light Health policy and procedures, demonstrating awareness of evidence-based practice.
  8. Leadership and Professional Conduct: Utilizes time management skills, meets punctuality expectations, and demonstrates flexibility in scheduling to support staffing needs.
  9. Collaboration and Teamwork: Implements the plan of care, identifies resources to meet patient care needs, and contributes to a healthy work environment.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Maine
  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED)
  • 0 years of relevant work experience
Working Conditions

Lifting, moving, and loading 30-50 pounds. Alternate shift schedules, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $62,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience. Additionally, you'll enjoy benefits such as health insurance, paid time off, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
