Director of Application Services

Equus Workforce Solutions is seeking a seasoned IT leader to oversee the management, development, and optimization of our technology infrastructure. As the Director of Application Services, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective functioning of our organization's technology systems.
This leadership position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of information systems, including those used internally and delivered through third-party vendors. You will ensure seamless integration, security, and efficient operations across both domains.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and communicate a strategic vision for the organization's information systems.
- Align technology initiatives with business goals and objectives.
- Oversee the entire application lifecycle, from planning and development to maintenance and retirement.
- Prioritize application projects based on business needs and resource availability.
- Lead application managers, developers, and analysts.
- Foster collaboration across departments to ensure effective application delivery.
- Evaluate and manage relationships with third-party software vendors.
- Negotiate contracts, licensing agreements, and service-level agreements.
- Ensure applications meet user requirements and adhere to quality standards.
- Monitor application performance, scalability, and security.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation.
- Integrate various systems to streamline processes.
- Optimize system performance and scalability.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to application services.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Develop and test disaster recovery plans.
- Communicate IT initiatives and progress to executive leadership.
- Collaborate with business leaders to understand their needs and align application services accordingly.
- Communicate progress, challenges, and opportunities to executive leadership.
- Lead change efforts related to application upgrades, migrations, and process improvements.
- Provide training and support to end-users.
- Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
- Explore opportunities for digital transformation and automation.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field. Master's degree or MBA, preferred.
- 5 years' experience in IT leadership role, including managing application development, support, and maintenance.
- Proven track record of successful project management and team leadership.
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies, languages (Java, .NET, etc.), and frameworks.
- Experience with integrating applications across platforms (ERP, CRM, etc.).
- Knowledge of database systems (SQL, NoSQL) and data modelling.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Understanding of security best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to align technology initiatives with business goals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in managing organizational change related to technology.
- Relevant certifications can enhance qualifications. (PMP), ITIL, Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
