About the Role:

The City of New York seeks a highly skilled Payroll/Timekeeping Coordinator to join their team. As a key member of the organization, you will be responsible for managing payroll and timekeeping duties.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate daily payroll operations to ensure timely processing of transactions, including new hires, promotions, retirements, and other changes.
  • Process collective bargaining agreements in compliance with payroll directives and policies issued by various agencies.
  • Analyze reports to identify over-payments and recoup amounts due to the agency.
  • Verify accuracy of bi-weekly payroll through analysis of Pay Cycle Event Detail (700) report.
  • Generate reports and analyze data from various human resources databases.
  • Respond to inquiries from employees and stakeholders regarding payroll and timekeeping matters.
  • Coordinate distribution of bi-weekly payroll and monitor employee time and leave events.
  • Maintain schedules, process time and leave events, and handle submissions for special leaves of absence.
  • Conduct daily reviews of Payroll Management System (PMS) and Citytime reports to ensure accurate processing of time and leave events.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, including one year in an administrative capacity or supervising staff.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work accurately under pressure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to respond to inquiries from employees and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in software applications, including human resources databases and payroll management systems.

Compensation:

This is a competitive salary position, with an estimated annual salary of $65,000 - $85,000 based on location and experience.
