Heavy Duty Vehicle Maintenance Role at Ryder System

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Technician to join our team at Ryder System. As a heavy equipment maintenance specialist, you will be responsible for performing routine and preventive maintenance on diesel engines and other components of heavy-duty vehicles.

Salary Information

  • Average weekly pay: $1,060
  • Hourly pay: $26.50 per hour

About the Job

This permanent, full-time position is located in Ypsilanti, Michigan. You will work on a second shift from 12:30 pm to 9:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with weekends off.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, as well as vocational or technical certification. At least two years of experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines is preferred. A valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A is also highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  1. Perform routine vehicle maintenance tasks, including oil changes, brake and tire work
  2. Diagnose and repair mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers
  3. Replace defective components as instructed
  4. Perform facility maintenance duties
  5. Interact with customers and drivers to properly determine the nature of complaints

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain a CDL within six months after hire
  • Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, and background check
  • Have a minimum of two years' experience in mechanical repair
