Job Summary:The Inpatient Pharmacy Technician is a vital member of our pharmacy team, responsible for supporting the distribution of medications and assisting the professional staff in various aspects of pharmacy operations.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide exceptional customer service to healthcare providers and patients, answering questions and referring drug information calls to pharmacists as needed.
- Maintain a safe and clean pharmacy environment, adhering to infection control policies and protocols.
- Deliver medications to units in a timely and accurate manner.
- Handle controlled substances in accordance with pharmacy department policies and procedures.
- Prepare and document medication orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Participate in meetings and committees as assigned, contributing to the development of pharmacy policies and procedures.
- Prepare non-sterile and sterile compounds in accordance with department guidelines and applicable USP standards, utilizing aseptic technique for final verification by a pharmacist.
- Perform environmental testing of the sterile compounding environment, taking appropriate action and documenting results according to departmental procedure.
- Order medications from drug wholesalers as needed, identifying and communicating backorders, and maintaining accurate inventory levels.
- Registration with the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of hire date for new registrants.
