Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Residential Aide to join our team at The Nord Center. As a Residential Aide, you will play a vital role in providing independent living skills training, direct care support, and opportunities for community integration to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide intensive independent living skills training, including cooking, personal hygiene, housekeeping, and laundry skill training.
  • Work with clients to develop social skills, such as interaction with others, appropriate use of leisure time, and appropriate behavior skills.
  • Assess and intervene in crisis situations by following the crisis response flow chart.
  • Accompany clients to community outings, such as grocery shopping, libraries, and other institutions.
  • Transport clients on independent skills training outings using agency vehicles.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, case conferences, and other required meetings.
  • Educate and involve clients in the Insect Inspection and Control process.
  • Document and monitor clients' progress, use of medications, and other important information.
Requirements
  • A working knowledge of Nord Center Policy and Procedures.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with clients and write progress notes.
  • A working knowledge of client care and the mental health field.
  • The ability to teach and model daily living skills.
  • The ability to respond in crisis situations and utilize the Center's crisis plan.
Working Conditions

The Residential Aide will spend all time in client group homes, with frequent client contact and strong speaking and language skills required. The individual must be able to bend, stoop, walk frequently, and lift and push minimal loads at various times.
