Job Overview

The University of the Pacific seeks an accomplished professional to fill the position of Distinguished Professor of Restorative Dentistry. This full-time tenure-track faculty member will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of dental professionals.

About the Role

This esteemed individual will oversee didactic, simulated, and clinical student learning experiences in restorative dentistry, ensuring that students are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in their field.

The successful candidate will engage in teaching, curriculum design, patient care, research/scholarship, and collaboration/service. They will work closely with the Department of Preventive and Restorative Dentistry to advance the university's mission and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching: Deliver lectures, seminars, preclinical simulation laboratory teaching, clinical teaching, and computer-based individualized instruction to support the department's pre-clinical and clinical courses.
  • Curriculum Design and Course Directorship: Become a course director, design, lead, and manage courses, contributing to curriculum design, including integration with the various Helix strands.
  • Patient Care: Work in the university clinics, supervising student care of patients, in all aspects of restorative dentistry.
  • Research/Scholarship: Build research endeavors, demonstrate effort in scholarly publications and presentations, and obtain extramural funding.
  • Collaboration and Service: Engage broadly in school, university, professional, and community service opportunities, promoting the university's culture of humanism and collaboration.
Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:

  • Dental school educational processes and modern prosthodontic and restorative techniques.
  • Experience in all restorative and prosthodontic clinical procedures, minimum three years of clinical/educational experience.
  • A DDS/DMD or international equivalent, board certified/board eligible in Prosthodontics in California (preferred) or equivalent, and valid CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with additional qualifications, such as:

  • Minimum five years' experience of dental private practice desired.
  • Experience as a specialist in Prosthodontics in Private practice or special interest/experience in Fixed and Removable Prosthodontics.
  • Experience teaching in a dental school desired.
Benefits

The University of the Pacific offers a competitive salary range of $160,000 - $170,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
