About the Job

**Job Summary:** We are seeking a skilled Licensed Vocational Nurse to provide school health and nursing services to students of DUSD. The successful candidate will work cooperatively with staff, administration, parents, and students to implement specialized healthcare procedures.

**Key Responsibilities:**
  • Provide school health and nursing services to students as assigned by the district nurse.
  • Work cooperatively with staff, administration, parents, and students.
  • Implement specialized healthcare procedures, including glucose testing, administration of insulin, catheterization, blood pressure monitoring, and more.
  • Assist the credentialed school nurse with health screenings, immunizations, dental, and recording procedures.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid to assigned students.

Requirements and Qualifications:

**Required Skills and Qualifications:**
  • Knowledge of modern medical terminology, equipment, and techniques.
  • General concepts of child development and characteristics of children with special needs.
  • Skills and abilities in vocational nursing, first aid, CPR, administration of medications, performing specialized healthcare procedures, infection control procedures, and hazardous waste management.
  • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
  • Health and safety regulations.
  • Operation of specialized medical equipment.
