Recreation Program Coordinator

Job Summary:
We are seeking a Recreation Specialist to develop, conduct, and supervise leisure-time activities for students at the Muhlenberg Job Corps Center. The ideal candidate will have above-average public speaking skills, experience in planning and organizing recreational services, and the ability to obtain a commercial driver's license.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with planning, organizing, and carrying out department's total recreational services.
- Administer a well-rounded program of diversified activities in the assigned recreation component.
- Submit all supply needs, including equipment and maintenance, to the supervisor.
- Keep a daily record of attendance in assigned recreational activities.
- Maintain discipline, cleanliness, and inventory control in assigned areas.
- Post schedules of monthly activities and special events.
- Submit a schedule of special activities for the upcoming month to the supervisor.
- Chaperone and direct off-Center trips and ensure necessary funds are available.
- Follow CDSS/CSS/BMS plans and procedures daily.
- Comply with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulations, Job Corps notices, and Center policies and procedures.
- Maintain good housekeeping in all areas and comply with safety practices.
- Adhere to required property controls policies and procedures.
- Maintain recreational equipment.
- Model, mentor, and monitor Career Success Standards.
- Help students become more employable through continuous reinforcement.
- Participate in PRH mandated staff training.
Requirements:
- Above-average public speaking skills and experience in same.
- Above-average verbal and written skills.
- Above-average problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Computer literacy.
- Ability to obtain a commercial driver's license.
- Ability to travel periodically.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet special and emergency needs of the department.
Education/Experience:
- Associate of Arts Degree or one year of related experience working with youth.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Valid State Driver's License.
- Valid Commercial Driver's License with passenger endorsements.
