At the YMCA of Metropolitan L.A., we are seeking a PE Coach to join our team. This is a school year position scheduled to begin with summer opportunities available. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, instructing, and motivating students participating in PLAY classes.

Responsibilities
  • Aid in the developmental and amendment of weekly lesson plans to ensure organization and quality of the programs.
  • Implement daily lesson plans for coaches and students in the program, promoting a positive experience that focuses on building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth.
  • Nurture children through purposeful programming dedicated to their growth and development, maintaining close visual supervision at all times.
  • Help children manage behavior using proactive strategies, redirection, and constructive discipline with logical consequences.
  • Make notation regarding each individual's participation, behavior, and progress, actively supporting the YMCA's commitment to inclusion and compliance with the ADA where appropriate.
  • Assist with planning and implementing program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate, and consistent with the YMCA values and established guidelines.
  • Build relationships between teachers, staff, and students, learning their strengths and weaknesses to motivate and tailor lesson plans to meet their needs.

The ideal candidate will possess strong character values, communication skills, and emotional maturity, with a background in Kinesiology or Pedagogy preferred. A current approved EMSA CPR, First Aid, and AED certification is required, along with completion of child abuse prevention training prior to the first day in the program.
