Job Title: Charge Nurse

FlexStaff Careers is seeking a skilled Charge Nurse to join our team. As a Charge Nurse, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the provision of services provided to patients by clinic physicians, clinicians, RNs, LPNs, and DCCs to ensure that all health needs are addressed in an appropriate and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Directly oversee and coordinate the provision of services provided to patients by clinic physicians, clinicians, RNs, LPNs, and DCCs.
  • Ensure that all health needs are addressed in an appropriate and efficient manner.
  • Provide direct oversight, ensure completion of required nursing assessments, and initiate health care plans to ensure that the highest quality care is being rendered in the most efficient manner.
  • Train, delegate, and supervise staff in carrying out treatment plans relating to the health needs of the people who reside in our programs.
  • Supervise RNs and LPNs and provide oversight and instructions to the nursing staff and direct care staff in the in the OPWWD certified programs.
  • Monitor and evaluate staff performance related to delegated tasks.
  • Monitor and assure the accurate implementation of the health care plan by the nursing staff.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of care plans in meeting all outcomes, goals, and objectives to ensure that the best care is provided.
  • Communicate outcomes to the people that reside in our programs, families, caregivers, and or service providers.
  • Provide updated reports and ensure proper documentation by staff are being delivered in a professional and timely manner.
  • Monitor compliance with established policies and procedures and take corrective action to maintain high standards of nursing care.
  • Monitor scheduling and completion of medical appointments as per physician's recommendation, the needs of the people who reside in our programs, and transportation needs.
  • Monitor and ensure completion of documentation as per nursing standards and agency policy.
  • Monitor activities in all clinical areas to ensure that quality services are provided within the framework of Agency policies and procedures and all applicable government regulations.
  • Complete monthly schedules for nurses and assure daily shift are adequately staff with required nursing staff.
  • Monitor the facility medication storage and ensure adequate medical supplies are available at all times and that all equipment are in working order.
  • Oversee prior authorizations for medications and feedings.
  • Collaborate with the physician on the disposition of unscheduled/priority appointment requests.
  • Conduct monthly nurses meetings and provide verbal and written guidance as needed.
  • Oversee and identify the need for and arrange and conduct conferences to facilitate resolution of complex issues.
  • Provide in-service training for 24-hour nurses as required.
  • Develop and update the people who we reside in our programs profile with the Residential Coordinator or other service providers for use at clinic appointments and hospitals.
  • Assign nursing staff to perform health care treatments/procedures and having taken into consideration the complexity of the procedure(s), the skill/experience of the staff, and the health conditions/status of the person receiving services.
  • Supervise the preparation packages for the Surrogate Court, Consumer Advisory Board (CAB), MIPS, and MOLST.
  • Attend the surrogate court proceedings as necessary.
  • Attend all annual and semi-annual ISP meetings/conferences in the various day programs attended by the individuals we serve in the ICF.
  • Maintain a safe, aseptic, and therapeutic residential setting environment.
Requirements:
  • NYS licensed Registered Nurse.
  • Minimum three years nursing experience with one year in supervision.
  • C.P.R. certification.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to work flexible hours and/or days.
