Job Description

As a Regional Human Resources Manager at NearU, you will provide comprehensive HR support in the areas of employee relations, talent acquisition and management, compensation, employment law/compliance, benefits, organizational effectiveness, and learning and development. You will serve as a strategic business partner in executing the implementation, administration and monitoring of best practices and programs within the specified region (13 locations in and around NC).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tactical guidance and input regarding HR strategies
  • Visit branches and build trusting business relationships with employees and branch management
  • Train branch and regional management in all areas of human capital management including: policy and procedure, leadership skills and development, harassment & discrimination prevention, talent acquisition, performance management, terminations, and benefits
  • Coordinate and implement performance review program, provide coaching in the moment and be able to give and receive critical feedback for growth of associates and self
  • Stay up to date on all applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations governing employment (EEO, wage and hour, employee benefit, leave, etc.)
  • Support field operations with safety initiatives and process worker's compensation claims
  • Support field operations with FMLA, STD and other leaves of absence processing and tracking
  • Handle various employee relations issues, conduct investigations, train and develop staff and maintain important documentation for record keeping and compliance purposes in an organized manner
  • Partner with internal legal counsel to prepare for and/or respond to lawsuits or complaints filed by outside agencies; attend mediations, arbitrations and other court proceedings as needed
  • Support the region in executing an effective recruiting strategy (short and long term) and work with the recruiters to source qualified candidates
  • Support the HR function in performing activities related to mergers and acquisitions (employee onboarding, etc.)
  • Serve as a resource to field team members during open enrollment and provide advice on unemployment and workers' compensation hearings as needed
  • Track HR metrics and implement actions to improve metrics. Maintain reporting for comparison year over year.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years' experience in human resources; specific experience in managing multiple locations and skilled trades industry a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and work with minimal oversight
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, leadership presence, demeanor, ethics and image of self and subordinates
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and document management systems
  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources or other related field, or extensive experience within HR
  • PHR/SPHR (SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP) certification preferred
  • Experience working within a HR Information System, ADP is preferred
  • Travel 25%-40% of the time primary to branches within assigned territory
  • Support other NearU markets and team members, as needed
