About This Role:

The College of Agriculture/K-State Research & Extension's Business Services unit is seeking an Accountant I to provide day-to-day accounting support. This position will be responsible for completing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, posting and reconciling in the accounting system, supervising students, answering faculty/staff inquiries, and managing daily office administrative operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create payment documents and process vendor and internal department invoices in eForms.
  • Provide training and support to unit(s) for all BPC holders regarding receipts, expenditures, and monthly Concur submission.
  • Review and process travel-related expenditures submitted by employees.
  • Review all documents for accuracy and address discrepancies with the Accounting Manager as needed.
  • Complete interdepartmental requisitions as needed and review monthly statements for services used by the assigned unit.
  • Manage facilities and telecomm work orders and invoices.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate accounts receivables from department service and product sales.
  • Process deposits, record CashNet and credit card receipts using the departmental accounting system.
  • Process invoices, generate interfund vouchers.
  • Complete reimbursement requests and deposits to/from Foundation accounts using K-State's Foundation's electronic system (FIN).

Requirements:

  • Requires a high school diploma and one year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge or experience in accounts payable functions.
  • Higher education certificate or degree in a related field.
  • Computer proficiency/ability to learn new systems. This position uses Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBooks, and K-State internal systems such as eForms and Concur.
  • Experience responding to clients in a friendly and effective manner.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly, determine priorities, take initiative, and work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail.
