Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at UPMC. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and working collaboratively with our healthcare team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform arterial puncture using radial and brachial arteries, and femoral artery with a doctor's order.
  • Administer bedside pulmonary function tests.
  • Prepare and maintain patient records.
  • Administer medical gases using various equipment.
  • Efficiently use and maintain equipment and supplies.
  • Administer IPPV, IPPB, aerosol, nebulizer, and incentive spirometry treatments.
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate blood gas analyzers.
  • Consult with and advise Certified Respiratory Therapist on equipment use and patient management.
  • Participate in inservice education and orientation of new staff members.
  • Assess competency of staff members.
  • Assist with planning and coordination of technical staff activities.
  • Assist in evaluating equipment and quality assurance programs.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an AMA-accredited school for respiratory therapy.
  • Successful completion of the NBRC Certification Exam.
  • CPR certification based on AHA standards.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification within one year of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
  • Act 33, Act 34, and Act 73 FBI Clearance.
