Job Summary:

Pape-Dawson Engineers is seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineering Design Specialist to provide design support to engineers for commercial, site, and residential land development projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in AutoCAD Civil 3D and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare plans, profiles, and detail drawings in AutoCAD Civil 3D from detailed sketches or off red-lines.
  • Develop construction documents showing topographical contours, elevations, profiles, and cross-sections.
  • Understand and use established company standards for drafting, including layer names, line and character styles, drawings, and file names for sheet layout.
  • Handle AutoCAD transfers and analyze sketches, notes, and other input material to determine and plan the best approach to develop and complete drawings.
  • Inform Project Managers of progress on assigned projects and request work when needed.
  • Maintain an organized work area to allow access of project information by other team members.
  • Flexible in work assignments and team assignments.

Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • 7 years' experience in civil design - residential/commercial/site in the Central Texas area.
  • Extremely proficient in AutoCAD-Civil 3D.
  • Effective communications skills, both oral and written.
  • Effective interpersonal skills for interaction with colleagues, clients, and public agency officials.
  • Self-starter.
  • Ability to work interdependently within a team environment.
  • Must be flexible to changes in work assignments on short notice and/or on a daily basis as changes occur in project needs.
  • Must be able to work 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime.
