Medical Assistant I Position

Job Summary:

Texas Oncology is seeking a Medical Assistant to support our clinical team in the Dallas location. This role will involve assisting physicians and clinicians with patient care duties, promoting efficient patient flow, and performing various administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Escorting patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as needed.
  • Recording patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Obtaining necessary patient records as required by physicians prior to treatment or procedures.
  • Preparing and stocking exam/treatment rooms and ordering supplies as needed.
  • Assisting physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
  • Administering subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician.
  • Maintaining all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
  • Answering patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
  • Phoning in prescriptions and making other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.
  • Informing physician of patient reschedules and no shows.
  • Performing other administrative duties, such as typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, reception, etc., as requested by supervisor or physician.

Requirements:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.
  • Level 1: 0-3 years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
  • Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
  • Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Some state regulations may require specific certifications in order to work as a Medical Assistant.
