Salary and BenefitsThe estimated salary for this position ranges from $26 to $32 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. In addition, you can earn an extra $.25 per hour for each ASE certification you possess or obtain. A $2,500 sign-on bonus* is also available.
As a Diesel Mechanic at First Student, you will be part of a team that ensures the readiness and safety of our brand-new fleet of vehicles. Your responsibilities will include:
Key Job Responsibilities- Leading preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual DOT maintenance inspections.
- Diagnosing and performing all phases of vehicle and equipment repair, including brakes, suspensions, drivetrains, & transmissions.
- Ensuring work orders are completed accurately.
- Assisting with mobile emergency services.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A valid driver's license and willingness to obtain CDL B while employed.
- At least 3 years of automotive or diesel maintenance & repair experience or technical school education.
- Possession of a mechanic's tool set.
- Willingness to participate in the ASE certification program, which offers training, testing, and bonuses.
