Job Summary

Responsibilities
  • Assist doctors of optometry with patient care, including recording medical and visual history, reviewing clinical information, and preparing other necessary materials.
  • Take and record patient vitals when indicated, perform pre-testing procedures, and maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Manage phone calls and patient communication, assess situations, and manage triage accordingly.
  • Maintain diagnostic and therapeutic instruments and equipment, ensuring they are clean and accurate.
Requirements
  • Minimum two years of experience functioning in an optometric or ophthalmic practice under supervision, or one year in a back office provider support role with on-the-job training.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Paraoptometric Assistant Certificate within 24 months of hire, or Ophthalmic Technician Certificate, Paraoptometric Technician Certificate, or Ophthalmic Assistant Certificate within 24 months of hire.
  • Registered Medical Assistant (Washington) within 2 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Three years of previous experience in optometric or other ophthalmic practice.
  • Basic knowledge of Kaiser Permanente policies, procedures, and philosophy.
  • Thorough knowledge of basic science and optics, familiarity with optometric and/or ophthalmic procedures related to preliminary testing.
Salary Information

The estimated salary for this position is $45,000 - $60,000 per year, depending on experience.
