VIA Visually Impaired Advancement is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher of the Visually Impaired to provide vision services to children from birth to 21.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the needs of visually impaired students and be able to develop and implement effective lesson plans to promote independence and self-sufficiency.

The successful candidate will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and other professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide vision services in preschool, school-based, and community settings
  • Develop and implement individualized lesson plans to meet the unique needs of each student
  • Collaborate with other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for visually impaired students
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress
  • Participate in student-centered meetings and ensure timely completion of paperwork

Requirements:

  • New York State TVI certification
  • Minimum one year experience in early education
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
