PENN ST UNIV PA USA, United States The Pennsylvania State University Full time

The Pennsylvania State University is a world leader in impactful teaching and learning; research; and service to the University, the profession and society. We promote a culture of equity and inclusion, where everyone is welcome; everyone is respected; everyone's opinion and contributions are valued; and everyone strives for excellence in themselves, in their colleagues, and in the institution.

We are seeking innovative, knowledgeable, and collaborative individuals to join the student support team to provide communication and coordination for students experiencing a range of multi-faceted individual needs. The College of Engineering is supportive of flexible work arrangements when aligned with the ability to meet the needs of the unit and the essential duties of the position.

The College of Engineering is implementing a new Coordinated Care Program that is intended to help students (and the faculty/staff who are supporting these students) who have multiple, significant inter-connected challenges, and who are struggling to navigate across the complex network of Penn State supports, offices, policies, and procedures.

The selected individuals will support undergraduate students with the following:

  • Document and track inquiries, referrals, status of current student cases, and Coordinated Care plans
  • Generate reports for COE Leadership and University partners
  • Create and nurture relationships with partner offices, particularly those with a more concentrated Diversity, Equity, Inclusions, and Belonging (DEIB) focus, to promote intentional engagement
  • Conduct information sessions and produce communication to inform students, faculty, and staff about the Coordinated Care Program
  • Maintain and ensure confidentiality of student records
  • Keep up-to-date with college advising philosophies and practices, not only to inform their work in the Coordinated Care Program, but also to be available to mitigate unexpected urgent advising vacancies within the college.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $42,000 to $61,000. We value inclusion as a core strength and an essential element of our public service mission.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. The successful candidate will have a strong background in working with high school or college-aged students and a proven track record of commitment to serving diverse student populations.

We are an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer, and is committed to providing employment opportunities to all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or protected veteran status.

This position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong attention to detail, and a desire to work with different student populations in a high-enrollment college unit. We are interested in candidates who are comfortable with creating something new, trying things and adjusting as needed, and communicating with various stakeholders.

This position will be filled at the Intermediate Professional level, depending on the final applicant's experience and education. Intermediate requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required material includes a resume along with a cover letter expressing interest in working with college-aged students, and specifically why you are interested in the new Coordinated Care program.
