We are seeking a part-time Seasonal Associate Fitness & Recreation Coordinator to support our fitness & recreational programs during the 2025 season. This position will report directly to the Director of Public Programs and serve as the point of contact for our fitness & recreational partners.

The Conservancy presents approximately 150 programs annually, including walk up kayaking, soccer and volleyball leagues, and Waterfront Workouts. We invite visitors to get moving with athletic and fitness opportunities at the Park.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up the season by working with the Director of Public Programs and Programs Coordinator to determine production needs and execute a season of fitness & recreation programs.
  • Liaise with partners, collaborators, instructors, and staff to ensure their needs are met and regular check-ins on weather to make sure programs can run safely.
  • Coordinate with Park Events Associates and Kayak Associates to confirm staffing and develop relationships.
  • Supervise youth and adult soccer programs, requiring some Saturday early morning and Wednesday late evening shifts.
  • Manage various program email accounts and communicate with teams and parents as needed.
  • Develop relationships with The Kayak Foundation and Brooklyn Bridge Park Boathouse to ensure smooth functioning of public and youth kayak programs.
  • Keep records of permits, attendance, and feedback from participants, staff, and instructors.
  • Prepare rosters for all classes where necessary.
  • Update the Director of Public Programs and Programs Coordinator weekly.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of event coordination and production, including logistics and seasonal program execution.
  • Familiarity with health and wellness programming, including fitness activities and safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills for working with program partners, park staff, participants, and vendors.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing situations.
  • Leadership skills to supervise staff and volunteers.

We offer an estimated salary of $25 per hour for 15 hours per week, with onsite requirements on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. We provide equal employment opportunities and prohibit discrimination and harassment.
