Job Summary

Atrium Health is seeking a highly skilled Toxicology Care Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our poison center, you will play a vital role in managing poisoning cases reported by the public or healthcare providers.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize clinical and communication skills to obtain a comprehensive exposure history from patients of all ages, including infants, children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly.
  • Provide accurate and timely poison information on patient exposures, relying on your expertise and resources to assess each case.
  • Formulate an appropriate plan of care for patients by interpreting and integrating available information, considering established guidelines, case specifics, patient care priorities, and health care facility resources.
  • Communicate patient information and treatment recommendations to healthcare facilities and providers as necessary.
  • Evaluate the appropriateness of assessment and recommendations documented on the case record, adhering to established follow-up procedures.

Requirements:

  • A graduate degree from an accredited school of nursing, pharmacy, or medicine.
  • Current licensure to practice in North Carolina, with at least two years of clinical experience preferred.
  • Certification as a Certified Specialist in Poison Information administered by the American Association of Poison Control Centers (AAPCC) within three examination periods and recertify as required by the AAPCC and North Carolina Poison Control.
