As a Toddler Education Specialist, you will be an integral part of our team, playing a crucial role in shaping the early learning experiences of young children.

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate individual to join our childcare teaching team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to create a nurturing and stimulating environment that promotes learning and growth in preschool-aged children.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and respond to events in the classroom and outdoor play areas at all times.
  • Frequently bend, crouch, and sit on the floor to engage with children.
  • Daily opening and closing tasks include disinfecting toys, cleaning furniture and sleep areas, and relocating items back to storage.
  • Implement developmentally appropriate activities and lesson plans for toddler-aged children in an early childhood setting.
  • Create a positive and safe learning environment using effective classroom management techniques.
  • Maintain accurate records of each child's progress and development.
  • Use a wide range of teaching methods to enhance children's abilities and promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.

Requirements

  • Completion of 20 credits (semester system) or 30 credits (quarter system) of training at a college or university in early childhood education and child development.
  • A one-year state or nationally recognized credential related to infant and toddler care.
  • At least one year of qualifying teaching experience, with at least one year as a teacher, in a certified child care center or comparable group care program, in the care of infants and/or toddlers.
  • Documentation of attaining at least step 6 in the Oregon Registry.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Create a safe and welcoming environment for each child, supporting their academic, social, and personal development.
  • Embrace and share knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education.
  • Exposure to playful and noisy environments, ability to lift and carry children when necessary.
  • Ability to spend scheduled durations of time outside regardless of the weather to supervise outdoor play.
  • A positive attitude, patience, and flexibility for unforeseen circumstances in the classroom.
  • Maintain a happy, collaborative, and positive attitude under stressful situations.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development and general principles of early childhood education.

Physical Demands

  • Lift and carry up to 40 lbs., such as activity materials, snack foods, and furniture.
  • Sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk intermittently during the day on hard floor surfaces.
  • Stand and be mobile for over 75% of the work period.
  • This position requires frequent bending, crouching, and sitting on the floor.

Compensation

The estimated salary for this position is $23-$25 per hour, based on industry standards and the location of the Veterinary Referral Center of Central Oregon Inc.
