Calibration Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Calibration Specialist to join our Fabrication and Calibration team in support of our Research Laboratory Support (RLS) contract with the U.S. EPA Center for Environmental Measurement & Modeling (CEMM) – Air Methods & Characterization Division (AMCD) located in Research Triangle Park, NC.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect calibration data by prescribed EPA standard operating procedures.
  • Calibrate sensors that measure flow rate, pressure, temperature, relative humidity, and air velocity. May also calibrate balances, weight sets, pipettes, and gas emission monitors.
  • Reduce, analyze, and interpret calibration data using statistical tools in MS Excel.
  • Report calibration results and generate calibration certificates in conformance with internal procedures and ISO-17025 standard guidelines.
  • Maintain laboratory standards, laboratory systems that support calibration, and reference materials.
  • Contribute to procedure, technique, and process improvement.
  • Maintain electronic records of measurement results and reports in accordance with CMS and EPA records management protocols.
  • Perform all laboratory work in accordance with established CMS and EPA safety and quality assurance protocols.
Additional Requirements:
  • This person will be continually learning and developing new skill sets as the research objectives change.
  • This person will develop an understanding of measurement uncertainty based on the Guide to the Expression of Uncertainty in Measurement.
  • May use R studio for data analysis and report generation.
