About the Role
The Education Support Specialist is a vital member of the BCNC Acorn Center for Early Education & Care team. As a state-licensed and nationally accredited child care center, we support the growth and learning for children from 15 months to 5 years. You will work collaboratively with a team of professional teachers to strengthen children and families by providing high-quality education and care.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with children under the supervision of a teacher.
- Maintain and organize classroom materials and space.
- Present a friendly and professional tone in interactions with families.
- Assist classroom teachers in dealing with children with challenging behaviors.
- Bring attention and concerns of difficult situations to the classroom teachers to receive support and guidance.
What We Look For
- A minimum of 18 years old with a High School Diploma; an associate degree is a plus.
- At least 1-2 years of experience working with toddlers or preschool-age children.
- You must meet Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) health and background check requirements.
- You must be willing to work towards a Child Development Associate (CDA) or take up to 4 Early Childhood Education (ECE) courses to get Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) Teacher certification.
- Show strong interest and aptitude for the care of young children.
- Ability to manage children in the classroom and be responsible.
- Professional working proficiency in Cantonese or Mandarin Chinese is a plus.
Working Conditions
- You must be available to work a flexible schedule and may require local travel during the workday.
- Work is performed primarily in a standard work environment, including the operation of computer equipment, and physical demands associated with a traditional work setting, e.g., walking, standing, communicating, and other physical functions, as necessary.
Estimated Salary: $40,000 - $50,000 per year
