Job Description

The Process Piping and Mechanical Engineering Division at Professional Engineering Consultants is seeking an experienced leader to provide high-quality customer service and support.

Division Focus

We cater to the production and distribution of power for private, municipal, and utility facilities, as well as process-focused heavy industrial, chemical, biodiesel, renewables, and midstream/downstream oil & gas facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide leadership to the team, overseeing operations, risk management, customer service, and client management.
  2. Recommend staff recruitment, mentoring, and training to the Technical VP.
  3. Assist with recruiting efforts and monitor project performance.
  4. Develop project scopes, schedules, and fees for proposed contracts.
  5. Mentor staff on project execution, performance, and client management.
  6. Identify training needs and opportunities for team members.
  7. Lead resource planning for the team.
  8. Ensure adherence to business practices and quality procedures.
  9. Enforce corporate and division standards, ensuring quality control requirements are met.
  10. Assess and manage risks, implementing necessary risk management practices.
  11. Support strategic planning and monitor project progress, providing input on areas of concern.
  12. Coordinate project schedules and needs with team members and project managers.
  13. Develop workflow and prepare tools and standards for detailed design.
  14. Communicate with internal and external clients to share business intelligence.
  15. Support division business planning and assist in determining objectives and requirements.
  16. Develop innovative opportunities for business growth across PEC.
  17. Assign work, review team member performance, and maintain development staffing levels.
  18. Provide administrative, supervisory, and technical direction for team members.
  19. Work with managers and team members to attract and secure talent.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical, or engineering with a mechanical/chemical process focus.
  • 7+ years of related work experience and leadership in the chemical processing and oil and gas industry.
  • Experience with an engineering consulting or EPC firm is a plus.
  • Knowledge of systems, calculations, specifications, equipment, P&IDs, materials selection, and project deliverables.
  • Experience in project execution, project cost estimates, detailed design, and project execution support.
  • A good working knowledge of front-end-engineering-design (FEED) delivery systems.
  • Skilled in reviewing P&IDs, PFDs, vendor documents, and instruments & valves.
  • Proficient user of MS Office software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Great leadership qualities and team-oriented.
  • Customer-focused with a strong work ethic.
  • Strong safety focus.
  • Pro-active and willing to take initiative.
  • Responsive and sensitive to project, client, and personnel needs.
  • Effectively manages multiple and conflicting priorities.
