About the Role

The Department of Psychiatry at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center invites applications for a qualified health psychologist to provide clinical services, teaching, and research to our hepatology and metabolic disease programs. This position will serve as a key member of our multidisciplinary care team.

Responsibilities
  • Clinical Services: Evaluate patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, provide counseling on mental health disorders, and offer behavioral strategies to address related pathology.
  • Research: Perform mental health assessments for specific clinical research projects and develop behavioral studies in populations with liver disease.
  • Teaching: Give lectures to residents and fellows, train and mentor local and international trainees, and work with the SSLI training director to provide rotations.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from an APA accredited program.
  • Experience in clinical health psychology and licensed or license eligible in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a diverse environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • APA accredited postdoctoral fellowship in Clinical Health Psychology and history of external funding.
  • Demonstrated experience in multidisciplinary research collaborations.
What We Offer
