At Alameda Health System, we are seeking a skilled and dedicated Clinical Nurse II to join our team. This is a journey-level class where incumbents have had the required professional nursing experience and are capable of independently performing the full range of clinical nursing services involving patient care.

About the Role

The Clinical Nurse II will provide nursing care to patients, including medications and treatment, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, and perform related duties as required. They may supervise the work of professional and paraprofessional staff on their unit. This role requires strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accompany, assist, and represent the needs of patients to other providers
  • Administer medications and provide skin and wound care, ADLs, and other essential patient care activities
  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and modify nursing care plans, prepare required records and reports
  • Gather and assess information about patients to meet nursing needs, assist and consult with physicians in procedures and diagnostic tests, contact physicians and/or other departments to obtain or provide patient information
  • Provide oversight to staff monitoring telemetry systems, alert primary nurses of changes in underlying rhythms and life-threatening arrhythmias, interpret and post telemetry strips, admit and discharge patients with telemetry units as appropriate
  • Organize, supervise, make adjustments, and accept responsibility for the quality of care provided by coworkers for a given work period, assuming responsibility as a team leader or charge nurse when assigned
  • Participate in promoting a healthful, safe, and therapeutic environment for patients and families, set up and control the environment essential for infection control
  • Participate in implementing patient care standards, infection control standards, and quality assurance criteria, assist with conducting studies, participate in unit and other meetings
  • Provide and evaluate patient care according to established standards and criteria, monitor patients for significant and critical changes, initiate procedures as required, document care given according to set standards and at required intervals
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A graduate degree from an accredited Nursing Program
  • A minimum of six months of experience as a Clinical Nurse I with AHS or equivalent experience at a comparable level in a minimum 100-bed hospital or in the area of specialty
  • Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association
  • Certification in chemotherapy within one year of hire (for certain positions)
  • BLS - Basic Life Support Certification issued by the American Heart Association
Salary Information

The estimated salary for this role is $80,000-$110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
