Role Summary

In this per diem position at Midstate Radiology Associates, you will operate radiological equipment and perform examinations to assist physicians in diagnosis and treatment. The ideal candidate must commit to two shifts per month and is expected to cover open shifts on weekdays or weekends as needed.

Job Responsibilities
  1. You will perform diagnostic radiography studies by following established protocols and selecting correct exposure factors based on patient age and diagnosis to produce technically excellent images.
  2. Some may participate in complex invasive radiological procedures by assisting the radiologist in performing the procedure and producing images to provide therapeutic and diagnostic services.
  3. You will practice radiation safety through appropriate use of radiation protection devices and adhere to radiation safety standards to protect patients, yourself, and staff and comply with regulatory agencies' requirements.
  4. Maintain the radiological equipment in good operating order. Clean and disinfect equipment and area after each use. Maintain work area in an orderly manner. Report any hazardous conditions or equipment breakdowns to supervisor.
  5. Demonstrate yearly competencies, including knowledge and behaviors, to conduct examinations and meet the needs of patients with regard to their age, condition, or other special requirements.
  6. Routinely prepare examinations for interpretation by the radiologist, including correct identification and processing. Set up images properly in the PACS system. Accurately input data in the RIS by tracking actual procedures to capture all charges and other relevant information.
  7. Possess computer skills appropriate to meet departmental needs in preparation of reports and correspondence.
  8. Work effectively as a team member within the department and with other units to provide quality service through communication, cooperation, and collaboration.
  9. Provide clinical supervision and instruction to students by maintaining and understanding policies, procedures, and the clinical competency process to evaluate student growth and competence in performing radiographic procedures.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent and graduate of an AMA-approved radiology program.
  • Registration: Registered with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) and CT state license.
  • Certifications: CPR certification may be required.
  • Maintenance: Continuing education credits as required by licensure.
