Pharmacy Technician

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at KPH Healthcare Services, Inc. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in preparing medications with sterile compounding, maintaining the compounding area and equipment, and monitoring inventory. You will also facilitate the shipment or delivery of medications to patients and providers.
Responsibilities:
- Assist pharmacists in maintaining federal, state, and local laws, accrediting body standards, and Policies and Procedures (P&Ps).
- Perform IV admixtures sterility testing in accordance with policy and maintain appropriate documentation.
- Assist pharmacists in the preparation and labeling of medications as allowed by law.
- Prepare sterile parenterals following appropriate aseptic technique and obtain required checks by pharmacists.
- Assemble drugs and supplies by matching codes and quantities from the compounding document.
- Label products correctly and check the final product for the absence of particulate matter and container integrity.
- Ensure compounded products are matched to the right delivery just prior to shipping.
- Conduct quality control and sterility testing.
- Assist pharmacists in maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
- Order, receive, and store medications and supplies.
- Perform physical inventories according to (P&Ps).
- Maintain pharmacy records, including filing and documenting required information on dispensing records.
- Maintain and track DME and other equipment, including cleaning and calibration activities.
- Clean work areas routinely in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with all members of the healthcare team.
- Document activities using required paperwork (logs) according to AristaCare P&Ps.
- Participate in Performance Improvement and Quality Assurance activities, education programs, and department/branch meetings.
- Serve as Process Owner as assigned.
- Complete all mandatory and regulatory training programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum: High School Diploma or GED.
- Preferred: Pharmacy Technician or related certification.
Experience:
- One year of IV compounding experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Credential/Licensure Required:
- Some states require a pharmacy technician certificate or license. Under no circumstances may a pharmacy technician mix medications or provide service without a licensed pharmacist present.
- Current CPR certification is required if involved with direct patient care.
