Job Title: Program CoordinatorJob Summary:

The Program Coordinator is a key member of our team, responsible for planning and executing structured group activities for children and adolescents. This role requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for working with youth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a nurturing, structured, and enriching program of after-school activities for students.
  • Maintain policies and procedures of the program, ensuring compliance with established guidelines.
  • Serve as the main contact for referrals and administration, maintaining connections with parents, school personnel, and outside programs.
  • Plan, develop, and provide a well-rounded program of activities for students, including health, education, and recreation.
  • Perform various administrative functions, such as composing, copying, and distributing work, as well as planning and preparing a weekly schedule for classes.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly environment for the program.
  • Supervise Group Supervisors and implement activities as planned in their absence.
  • Actively engage in activities with children and serve as a role model participant.
  • Implement a Strength-Based Youth Development Approach in all interactions and programs with youth and their families.
  • Maintain student records and overall program documentation, including Student Success Skills, Project-Based Learning, Attendance, physical exams, and emergency contact information.
  • Communicate with teachers and parents about children's daily activities and participate in parent conferences as needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Childhood Development, Special Education, Elementary Education, or a related field.
  • OR Bachelor's Degree with experience working with children and youth, OR Associate's Degree with experience working with children and youth, OR High School Diploma with three or more years of experience working in and overseeing a program with children and youth.
  • Experience in sensitivity with multicultural settings.
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity towards adolescent development issues and a desire to work with students ages 5-18.
  • Successful completion of training in CPR and First Aid.
  • Acceptable FBI and child abuse history clearances required.
Competencies and Personal Characteristics:
  • Proficient in computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills, including business writing, proper grammar, and spelling.
  • Good organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize work and manage conflicting deadlines.
  • Conflict resolution skills and peer mediation experience helpful.
  • Ability to work well with others, handle conflicts with diplomacy and tact, and listen and evaluate objectively.
