About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Sovah Health - Danville. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the delivery of exceptional patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Examine patients with breathing-related conditions and conduct diagnostic testing
  • Consult with physicians to develop and implement a treatment plan for the patient
  • Perform physiotherapy and other treatments and teach patients to use medications
  • Provide diagnostic and therapeutic interventions on physician-prescribed patients with acute and chronic cardio-pulmonary dysfunction
  • Measure lung capacity and analyze blood samples using a blood gas analyzer
  • Deliver and assess response to ordered therapy per plan of care
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate
  • Evaluate respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices
  • Respond to codes and calls for emergent assistance and participate as a member of the core team and rapid response team
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Respiratory Care Therapist required
  • Graduate of a Program in Respiratory Care Therapist required
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) American Heart Association required or within six (6) months of hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) American Heart Association required or within six (6) months of hire
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) required or within six (6) months of hire or transfer
  • Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (RRT) or eligible to take the NBRC's Registered Respiratory Therapist exams and have passed the RRT exam within 18 months of hire required
  • Licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia, to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) required
