Job Overview

George Fox University's Facilities Maintenance department is in search of a dedicated Facilities Maintenance Specialist to enhance University operations through inspections, plumbing, preventative upkeep, and other designated responsibilities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Routine Maintenance (70%):
    • Conduct plumbing maintenance and resolve drain issues.
    • Perform maintenance on HVAC systems (e.g., filters and belts).
    • Address maintenance requests promptly, ensuring efficient completion of tasks.
  • Organizational Duties (20%):
    • Oversee inventory management in the workshop and supply areas.
    • Act as the primary contact for retrieving and returning materials from suppliers and delivering them to work sites.
  • Support Various University Functions (10%):
    • Assist plumbing and HVAC technicians as needed.
    • Collaborate with external tradespeople on assigned projects.
  • Maintain effective and courteous communication with colleagues, students, and the public, fostering teamwork and respect.
  • Serve as a Christian role model to students through actions and lifestyle.
  • Demonstrate respect and appreciation for diverse backgrounds and work effectively with a variety of individuals.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.

A Typical Day:

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist will primarily traverse the campus to maintain equipment according to approved work orders. They will manage organizational tasks to ensure accurate inventory and effective communication within the department.


Ideal Candidates Will Have:

  • Experience in building trades.
  • Knowledge of fundamental maintenance and plumbing practices.
  • Physical capability to lift over 25 pounds and perform activities such as balancing, bending, climbing, and reaching.
  • A clean driving record and the ability to provide proof of a valid driver's license.
  • A personal commitment to Christian values and the ability to align with the Community Lifestyle Statement.

Position Details:

  • Work Hours: 40 hours per week, typically from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
  • Location: Newberg Campus
  • Physical Requirements: May include lifting over 25 pounds and performing various physical activities.
