Job Summary

The Clinical Social Worker will provide direct social work services to patients and families in the Emergency Department, assisting with social and practical environmental problems. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Social Work and 3 years of experience post-master's, with a license to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide emotional support to patients and families, addressing feelings of anxiety and stress related to illness and hospitalization.
  • Conduct interventions based on initial assessments, advocating for patient and family wishes when appropriate.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of resources needed to provide continuity of care before and after discharge.
  • Participate in in-service and staff development activities, including education and research.
  • Document all activities in accordance with UVA and Social Work Policy, Procedure, and Guidelines.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program.
  • 3 years of experience post-master's.
  • Licensed to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
