Operating Room Receptionist

Estimated Salary: $45,000 - $60,000 per year

Job Description:

As an Operating Room Receptionist at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of patient care by providing exceptional clerical and receptionist services to patients, families, visitors, staff, physicians, and departments that support patient care. Your primary responsibilities will include:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Processing orders according to guidelines and following computer downtime procedures
  2. Entering and updating information in the computer system to ensure current information and retrieving data accurately
  3. Maintaining the unit log according to guidelines and making follow-up appointments
  4. Responding to patient call systems and patient requests, providing clear and current information to families, visitors, and staff
  5. Using various communication tools, such as the telephone, patient call system, beeper/paging system, fax/copy machine, scanning, and unit-specific monitoring devices, to facilitate the flow of communication, equipment, and supplies
  6. Ordering, maintaining, and using supplies in a cost-effective manner

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Customer Service skills, with a focus on anticipating the needs of customers and providing responsive service
  • Patient documentation skills, with the ability to receive and record patient information
  • Telephone skills, with knowledge of the skills, procedures, attitudes, etiquette, and competencies necessary for successful telephone communication with customers
