Southwest Electric Co., a leading electrical services provider, is seeking an experienced Electrical Systems Specialist to join our Nashville Field Service team.

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled professional to conduct commissioning, testing, and maintenance of complex protective relaying schemes, metering remote control, and data systems in generation, transmission, and distribution substation environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of protective relaying equipment, relaying schemes, DFR equipment, SCADA systems, distribution automation systems, and associated communication equipment.
  • Test over current/voltage, directional, distance, impedance, sync check, loss of field, reverse power, multifunction relays, and perform function testing of substation control circuits on relay panel, transformers, and circuit breaker change outs.
  • Conduct differential and distance relay testing, assist in developing written standard commissioning, testing, and maintenance procedures for protective relaying, DFR's, RTU's, IED's, distribution automation, and associated communication systems.
  • Interpret customer and sales submitted technical documents, quotations, and service requests and apply that data directly to the quoted task at hand.
  • Communicate technical information clearly and concisely to management and customers.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Trade/tech school with 10 years of proven OTJ experience in Power Systems Protection and Controls.
  • Equivalent military training plus proven OTJ experience in Power Systems Protection and Controls.
  • University/college 2–4-year engineering technology plus related Power System Protection experience.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen and physical, complete a satisfactory nationwide criminal background check, and have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
