GED Success Coach Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated professional to fill the role of GED Success Coach at Native American Youth And Family Center.

About the Role:

This full-time position involves coaching participants in obtaining their GED. The successful candidate will work closely with our partner organizations to deliver GED training, focusing on direct service, outreach, and partnership development.

The GED Success Coach will establish strong relationships with participants, removing barriers such as transportation or childcare support, and providing tutoring in math and science. They will also assist participants in developing education and career goals, maintain accurate case files, and practice discretion when discussing client information.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit and enroll participants into NAYA's Re-engagement Program (GED)
  • Provide coaching and tutoring services to participants
  • Establish partnerships with GED service providers and become an active member of the GED community in Portland
  • Remove barriers for participants
  • Maintain case files and complete data entry
  • Promote participant success and well-being

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in social services or education
  • Experience: At least one year of experience supporting people who are seeking their GED, preferably in the Native community
  • Skills: Exceptional coaching skills, ability to connect with underserved populations, problem-solving, and communication
  • Certifications: CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain within 60 days
  • Licenses: Valid Oregon or Washington driver's license with no more than one major violation in the last three years
