About the Role:

At Google, we're committed to fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. As a Data Scientist Manager II, Research, you'll have the opportunity to drive scientific rigor and statistical methods to the challenges of product creation, development, and improvement. You'll work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and analysts to identify and clarify business or product questions, providing feedback to translate and refine business questions into tractable analysis, evaluation metrics, or mathematical models.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify business or product questions to answer, providing feedback to translate and refine business questions into tractable analysis, evaluation metrics, or mathematical models.
  2. Design and evaluate models to mathematically express and solve defined problems with limited precedent, using custom data infrastructure or existing data models as appropriate.
  3. Gather information, business goals, priorities, and organizational context around the questions to answer, as well as the existing and upcoming data infrastructure.
  4. Own the process of gathering, extracting, and compiling data across sources via relevant tools, independently formatting, re-structuring, and/or validating data to ensure quality.

Requirements:

  • Masters degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • 8 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), querying databases or statistical analysis, or 6 years of work experience with a PhD degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), querying databases or statistical analysis, or 8 years of work experience with a PhD degree.
  • 3 years of experience as a people manager within a technical leadership role.
