At Flatiron Construction Corp, we are seeking a seasoned Civil Project Manager to lead our Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel expansion project.

About the Role

This is an exceptional opportunity for a highly experienced professional to take charge of a large-scale infrastructure project. As a Civil Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the project, from planning and execution to budgeting and delivery. Your expertise in heavy civil construction will be invaluable in ensuring that the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Project Overview

The Hampton Roads Connector Partners JV has been selected to construct the $3.3 billion Design Build project, which includes a new 3.5-mile bridge-tunnel crossing, replacement of existing marine approach bridges, and addition of a third lane on I-64 in each direction. The project scope also involves boring twin 45-foot diameter tunnels using a Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM), creating one of the largest TBM tunnel openings in North America.

Your primary responsibility as a Civil Project Manager will be to plan and execute the project work methods, materials, equipment needs, and work schedule. You will review daily work schedules with direct reports and update monthly schedules based on project feedback. Additionally, you will ensure that project specifications are understood and supported job set up activities at all assigned locations.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and coordinate work methods, materials, equipment needs, and work schedules for assigned projects.
  • Review and understand project specifications to support job setup activities at all assigned locations.
  • Coordinate with internal and external teams to ensure that project work is equipped with appropriate equipment and material quantities to complete production within assigned budget and schedule.
  • Forecast work schedules to identify possible issues and provide technical or scheduling recommendations to mitigate production issues.
  • Provide technical input to identify and resolve project risks, including construction methods, work plans, and material requirements, safety and schedule activities.
Requirements

To be successful as a Civil Project Manager at Flatiron Construction Corp, you will need:

  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in heavy civil construction.
  • 9+ years of experience as a Superintendent.
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher preferred.
  • Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification is desired.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with a drive to mentor and grow internal talent.
  • Proven ability to handle complex construction projects using strong organization and multi-tasking skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction site equipment operation and maintenance requirements.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction site safety protocols and proven ability to enforce project safety programs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of local union or prevailing wage rules.
