We are seeking a highly skilled Network Systems Engineer to join our team at Santa Clara Development Corporation. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining our network infrastructure to support business initiatives.

Job Summary:

  • Designs, builds, and implements network systems across the corporation to support business objectives.
  • Works with various networking technologies including VLANs, STP, VTP, RSTP, MSTP, Layer 2/3, PoE, managed and unmanaged devices.
  • Experienced in using network monitoring and management tools such as Cisco Prime Infrastructure, SolarWinds, and Meraki.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting network issues using diagnostic tools like ping, traceroute, and packet analyzers.
  • Knowledgeable of industry standards and guidelines including ISO 27002, NIST 800-171, 800-53, and NIST CSF.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of internet basics including DHCP, DNS, security, IP routing, VPN, email routing, spam, etc.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, vendors, and others.
  • Plan, develop, install, configure, maintain, support, and optimize local and wide area network connections, capacity planning, corporate servers, associated software, and communication links.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining network security measures including firewalls, VPNs, and encryption protocols.
  • Monitors assigned system activity and makes recommendations for improving utilization, security, and integrity of systems.

Additional Skills and Abilities:

  • Maintains confidentiality regarding company information.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledgeable of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs.
  • Knowledgeable of telephony systems (VoIP, PBX, etc.)
  • Knowledgeable of server operating systems (Windows, Linux) and virtualization.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree in Computer Science or related field, and two years hands-on network engineering experience required; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • CCNA certification or equivalent mix of education, training, and experience required.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience communicating with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated efficient and effective use of research, analytical, problem-solving, and task prioritization skills to solve complex computing service incidents, problems & requests.

Estimated Salary: $85,000 - $110,000 per year
