Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a Registered Nurse, you will provide nursing care to adult patients in a correctional setting, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 24-hour nursing care to patients in a correctional setting
  • Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
  • Administer medications, provide patient education, and perform basic life support/emergency care as needed
  • Document patient information in the health record, maintaining confidentiality and communicating with other departments as necessary
  • Delegate tasks and workload as needed, working hours, days, and locations as assigned
Requirements
  • Valid unrestricted Virginia RN license
  • Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers with current certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
  • Experience in a correctional setting preferred

Please note that this is a wage position, limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12-month period. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period.
