Job Summary

At Williamson Health, we are seeking a skilled Perinatal Nurse Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare system, you will provide quality obstetric, neonatal, and gynecologic nursing care in an environment that prioritizes patient needs on a holistic level. This role involves incorporating emotional support and education with superior medical and nursing care to achieve patient well-being.

Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive assessments on all patients within the appropriate time of admission, utilizing skills of observation, communication, and examination.
Plan patient care on an individual basis, identifying problems/needs, nursing diagnosis, standards of care/practice, interventions consistent with identified problems, and attainable outcomes.
Plan for patient teaching, discharge, and post-discharge needs as appropriate for the patient population.
Function independently with treatments, procedures, and equipment appropriate to the area, evidenced by adherence to policy, procedure, and competency-based assessment, and no pattern or trend of problems.
Handle, transport, store, prepare, and administer medications/solutions safely and in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
Document accurately and timely.
Reassess patient's condition, evaluate patient response, and modify plan of care accordingly and in a timely manner.
Accept charge responsibilities and assign staff with consideration of patient condition and care requirement, acuity, and complexity of patient's condition. Facilitate staff development.
Maintain a healing and therapeutic environment for the patient and family.
Maintain position-specific qualifications. Attend mandatory in-services/staff meetings.
Demonstrate responsibility for assigned communications, unit duties, and special assignments.
Maintain personal appearance in a way that reflects our professionalism and demonstrates to our patients, visitors, and co-workers the importance we place on cleanliness, orderliness, and safety.

Requirements

Licensed by the State of Tennessee.
Earned a nursing diploma or degree from a college or university.
BLS within 90 days of hire.
At least one year perinatal experience preferred.
Certified Lactation Consultant, preferred.
NRP within six months of hire.
ACLS certification or agree to obtain within six months of hire.
Level I, Level II, and fetal monitoring within 1 year of hire.
  • Care of the Obstetric Patient - Level I
  • Care of the High Risk Obstetric Patient - Level II
  • Advanced Fetal Monitoring or AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
Able to function in stressful situations.
Able to return to work within 1 hour when on call.

Work Environment

Perinatal/OB-GYN unit with patient population ranging from less than one year of age to ninety-nine years of age.

Physical Effort

Able to communicate in English verbally and legibly.
Able to stand/work for up to twelve hours a day.
Able to lift with assistance up to 250 lbs.
