Dental Hygienist

The State of Illinois is seeking a skilled Dental Hygienist to join our team at the Shapiro Center in Kankakee. As a Dental Hygienist, you will provide high-quality dental care and educational services to individuals in our outpatient dental clinic.

• Administer oral prophylactic treatments as prescribed by a licensed dentist.
• Assist the dentist in administering treatments and making dental x-rays.
• Instruct direct care and nursing staff in dental health in-service programs.
• Keep records of activities performed within area of responsibility.
• Perform infection control procedures to prevent cross contamination.
• Input Continuous Quality Indicator data on computer.

• Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of high school, supplemented by completion of two (2) years of college with course work in dental hygiene.
• Requires Illinois certificate as registered dental hygienist.
