Behavioral Health Counselor

Job Title: Behavioral Health Counselor - Brockton Behavioral Health Center
Job Summary:
Boston Medical Center (BMC) is a leading healthcare provider in New England, and we are seeking a skilled Behavioral Health Counselor to join our team at the Brockton Behavioral Health Center. As a Behavioral Health Counselor, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality care to patients with substance use disorders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions, under supervision, to support patients in achieving their recovery goals.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients, taking into account their unique needs and circumstances.
- Provide crisis intervention and support to patients, as needed, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
- Act as a liaison between referral sources and patients, and provide education and support to patients and their families.
- Participate in multidisciplinary treatment teams to develop and implement treatment plans, and contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to substance use disorder treatment.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in social or health services field, with 2+ years of experience in counseling field; or bachelor's degree in other field with 4+ years of experience in counseling field.
- Master's degree in social or health services field, with 1 year of professional work experience.
- LADC or CADC certification.
- At least 2+ years of experience working in a healthcare/substance use treatment setting, preferably with individuals with substance use disorders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of community, social, and health resources, particularly substance use-related resources.
- Understanding of drug and alcohol use and ways to optimize safe use, lived experience preferred.
- Empathic understanding of patients and skilled in performing multicultural needs assessments and developing concrete service plans.
